Meet the Reverend Bruce Myers

I was born in Gary, Indiana and grew up in Riverside, California. I heard God’s call to ordained ministry and attended the Iliff School of Theology in Denver beginning in 1996. My seminary education was delightfully interrupted in 1999 with the adoption of our daughter, Rachel. I resumed study in the fall of 2002 and received a Master of Divinity Degree in the Spring of 2003. I received ordination as a Minister of Word and Sacrament in the Presbyterian Church, USA in March of 2003 have served a church in Salt Lake City, Utah and actively participated in the Presbytery of Utah as a member of the Committee on Ministry. I have lived in the Rocky Mountain West for the past 33 years – in Greeley, Denver, and Ft. Collins, Colorado and in Salt Lake City, Utah. My wife René is a fourth generation Coloradoan and has family in Denver and Grand Junction.
We are very excited to be beginning this new ministry with all of you at St. John on the Desert. Iit is my prayer that our time together will be filled with all of the great opportunities that ministry in the name of Christ Jesus brings. I believe very deeply that Christ’s Church, through the Holy Spirit, holds amazing promise for the world through the joyful gathering of all God’s people, for the healing of the earth and our souls, and for the building of God’s intended future here on earth. I have prayed that together we might energetically take Christ’s name into our
neighborhoods and the world through our ministry together in Tucson.
In Christ’s Love,
Reverend Bruce Myers

Saint John On The Desert

Saint John On The Desert is a vibrant church always seeking ways to serve its members, community, and the world at large. St. John is a friendly, warm, open, mission-driven, faith based church family. It is diversified in age, religious backgrounds and expectations, and desires enrichment through programs and revitalization. Our members love God and one another enough that we are not pulled apart by our diversity in beliefs, thoughts and traditions but rather we care and share our talents with each other to accomplish the goals of the church.
We have Sunday school for children pre-school age through high school, nursery care, and adult bible study. We have three different choirs; the cherubs, the youth choir, and the adult choir. We have various fellowships groups including one specifically for teenagers. We are committed to various mission projects such as the Tucson Ulster Project , Border Ministries and Casa Marie Soup Kitchen.
